David Allen is a productivity consultant who is best known as the creator of the time management method known as “Getting Things Done”.
He also wrote the sentence to the left.
As I think more and more about it, this other sentence makes more sense, compliments David Allen’s, and has way more meaning in my life:
God can do anything, but God won’t do everything!1
The lyrics of Our God by Chris Tomlin read:
Our God is greater, our God is stronger, God you are higher than any other.
Our God is Healer, Awesome in Power, Our God! Our God!
And if our God is for us, then who could ever stop us.
And if our God is with us, then what could stand against.
Those lyrics are also telling me that yes my God is amazing, but I have to be willing to do some work. To move, to create, to decide… It is impossible to just do nothing.
PUSH and PUSH and PUSH…
Knock on doors… Keep knocking… One will open… I just don’t know when!
All I know is the promise is with me, with us, and I can’t stand the chance of passing it…
I give the offering… God chooses the blessing… God can do anything, but God won’t do everything…
